Not only is the government on a roll, so am I…3 consecutive postings! Just giving you some love before I jet off to the faraway lands of pickpocketers and ugly men (hey, that’s what my Moroccan roommate said so I am merely repeating her).

Anyway. In the Seattle for biz right now. You know that feeling when you have so much to do that you can’t do anything? That’s me right now. Therefore I write here, which doesn’t solve anything.

love usps

Goodness, the government is on a roll this week.

I’m going to a concert this Wed and wanted to listen to the pieces before going to familiarize myself. My mummers borrowed the CDs from the MD library and mailed me burned copies on Saturday. Today is Monday and I already received it! Email may be super convenient, but the good ol USPS is pretty awesome too. Did you know, however, that the price of stamps will be going up to 41 cents mid-May? Gosh, I remember when it was 24 cents.

And this is unrelated to the Muni, or the USPS, but it feels strange blogging w/not a reference to the shootings at VTech today…very saddened and shocked. I get the chills everytime I read something about it, seriously.

love the muni

I rode the bus today instead of walking everywhere because I was exhausted from a super late night and intense soccer in the a.m. (note to self: take those damn iron pills). Below are my Muni thoughts of the day:

1. The 15 has ceased to run!!! It is replaced by the 9. This threw my comprehensive Muni knowledge off kilter for a moment. Difficult to believe, I know. If they ever get rid of the 45, I will be beside myself. By the way, what a funny saying.

2. Do you ever wonder if the Muni drivers are embarassed when they have to run off to the Porta-Potties in the middle of a run? It’s obvious that they’re using the loo…if I were one I’d be so self-aware of the entire bus waiting for me to come back.

3. I rode through Chinatown TWICE today and didn’t get annoyed! It’s because I snagged a seat in the back and didn’t have to deal with the pushy Chinese grannies. I am making you all a promise right here – that will never be me.

i chortled

Guffawed. Was tickled. Perhaps even hee-hawed. My roommate just shared this knee-slapper with me:

Google Maps =>Get directions=> New York to London

Let’s all do step #23 sometime soon yea? :)

Blog is lacking images. In the spirit of multimedia (you MUST check out this Wash Post article – great use of multimedia to enhance an already fascinating piece) and in preparation of my trip to Spain:

america!! > O

I’ve been troubled with three recent NYT articles that touch on the decline of arts (in some form or another) in the U.S.

The first focuses on difficulties the Smithsonian is facing, with its buildings in need of repair, controversial past practices, and struggles to raise money. The second contrasts the growing fervor for classical music in China with the declining interest here. The third touches on eroding attendance levels at colonial Williamsburg and the recent closing of one of Williamsburg’s plantations.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am far from being erudite (ooo…big word. Ok I totally threw that in for kicks). I mean, you must have noticed that all the articles I reference are from the same news source. I also did just spend five minutes reading about Anna Nicole’s two diaries that are up for sale, and then browsing the related photo gallery. But still, part of me is sad to hear about America’s dying – maybe -  enthusiasm and appreciation for the richness of museums, music, and historical landmarks. I fear that this will grow into apathy, and our primary mental stimulation will be centered around trivial celebrity-type fodder.
