mii!

Last night, I went down to Fremont for a Chinese New Year hot pot dinner with my cousins and their friends. Super yummy. I made a red bean sticky rice cake dessert and it was quite delicious, if I may say so myself. Here is half of it, upside down and a little messy:

After dinner, we played around on a Wii and Kaishin created my likeness! I tried to pose next to it but it’s a little dark:

So evidently my lacking virtual game sport skills are pretty much on par with real-life. Case in point: this morning Claude and I played “two-court tennis.” :) Someone needs to make a soccer Wii for me.

barack, do you want a big mac?

I just YouTubed Barack Obama because I keep on reading all these articles about how he’s extremely charismatic, yet I’ve never seen him speak. So the first thing I noticed wasn’t his presence, but how skinny he looks. Then below, in the comments section, I saw an exchange between “nodysseus” and “Blagnord” that has been cracking me up :

nodysseus: does he have anorexia or something?

someone else: I admire and respect you so much Mr. Obama.

Blagnord:  I believe he has neither anorexia nor something.

someone else: <insert another praise>

nodysseus: nothing at all?

I don’t think I’ve laughed so much over something in awhile…really weird, I know. It’s just such a silly query among all the serious comments.

Ooo. I just watched a Conan interview of Obama. It is really really funny. And Obama has an amazing smile. Aw shucks, I think I might be a fan.

it really is the age of social networking

Mitt Romney has a Facebook profile! How funny. I’m not sure displaying family photos of him + a kazillion blonde haired blue eyed family members will alleviate America’s reservations of his Mormon religion.

cheese, gromit, cheeeeese!

May I present the first ever, most-amazing-cheese-party-in-the-world, through pictures (I apologize in advance for those who were there, have already seen my photo recap and/or have read my fellow co-host’s blog).

10 different cheeses from different countries, but more importantly…from Whole Foods (minus one from Trader Joe’s that somehow weaseled its way in):

Name cards and descriptions of each cheese, written with love and care by yours truly:

Hosts of the evening. Keyvan better count himself a lucky man:

The aftermath…our friends sure know how to tear through food:

And perhaps the best evidence of a good time…25 empty wine bottles:

Stay tuned for the next foodie party…tea and cupcakes anyone? :D

i love myself, but does myself love i?

I’ve had the most taxing week at work, so I decided to do a little splurging today. First, I got my eyebrows waxed at Teashi, in Russian Hill. That place is so cute! Then I went to get a mani/pedi in the Marina because Teashi is quite possibly the biggest rip-off (but girls, for the month of February, most services are 20% off Tuesday – Friday). I guess you pay a premium to have people speak English to you.

But alas, I do not discriminate against the immigrants to this fine nation. So, following my nail treatments by lovely Vietnamese women, I went to get a massage in Chinatown. I realize that sounds very sketchy, but if you know me at all, you know I’m anal about things being clean and nice and this place is both. Then I stopped by Walgreens in North Beach to buy me some iron pills because my doc said I’m anemic. Look at how good I am to my body! I also like how I went to four different neighborhoods in the matter of three hours.

Unfortunately that love has not been returned — I’ve been feeling really stuffy, and lack of sleep due to work has not helped any. So I’m hoping that my body will see how much I care for it, and will un-stuff itself. :)

i love yellow

I’m not the biggest supporter of John McCain, but I do appreciate his yellow tie:

Actually, yellow is my favorite color so any time I see it, I automatically pay attention. My homepage is set to the NYTimes and although I have been insanely busy, I still notice when there’s a photo with yellow, such as the two below. I didn’t even have time to read the article, but I remembered the photos. So pretty! And happy.
